In this session we'll sort that out, go over the basics of authentication and encryption, what certificates and ciphers are used for, what is the difference between SSL and TLS. How all this ties together in the three-way handshake. What to look at when it doesn't. Lastly, we'll take a peek at the Digital Certificate Manager (DCM), the SSL system values, and the eligible cipher suites listing in SST on the IBM i
Back when the world was young, Mike Jacobs earned a BA in Cinema Studies and an MA in English Lit. He soon put those degrees to good use by going into IBM i systems administration and architecture. He is a past president of LISUG (currently serving there as Director at Large, which is a fancy way of saying they still let him hang around). He is also currently serving as Co-chair of the LUG (the IBM i Large User Group) and is a Vice President at JP Morgan Chase & Co.
