iSeries Performance Management Update

Meeting will be held on January 21, 2004.
V5R1 and V5R2 of OS/400 offers new performance "facts" and enhanced
performance tools. Additionally, as we roll out new applications that extend
our internal systems to the Internet and outside users performance becomes
something the programmer must worry about, not just something to review when
budgeting for a new machine.
This presentation will address the following topics:
- Updated CPU rating (usually CPW) and updated benchmark and technology.
- Information and TCP/IP based functions, such as web serving.
In the performance tools area, you will learn about:
- Operations Navigator-Management Central including performance monitors,
Collection
Services, new Graph History support and linkage to PM/400.
- Management Central - Pervasive (viewing performance metrics) on hand held
devices and browsers will also be covered.
The Performance Tools for iSeries functions and documentation updates are
discussed along with the latest information BEST/1, Patrol and the Workload
Estimator.
By the end of this session, attendees will be able to:
- Know what new performance level to expect on iSeries.
- Know how to use some of the new performance tools and features in V5R1
and V5R2.
